Frequently Asked Questions

Thermal Pockets Ice Packs are made of three fabrics that are highly conductive. In this case, conduction allows for an easier flow of cooling energy through the fabrics. Thermal Pockets fabrics allow greater energy flow to help reduce pain and inflammation while saturating the incision or injury site with cold therapy. The compression band is the component that secures the Thermal Pocket to your body as the gel pack delivers cooling and relief from inflammation and pain.

Yes! Thermal Pockets can be used post-surgery on any incisions or any injury with an open wound. The fabrics that make up Thermal Pockets also maintain a moisture-free and anti-bacterial environment around the incision.

Thermal Pockets are designed to minimize any inflammation and pain from injury or surgery. They are also excellent to use with general injuries that don’t involve broken skin.

Yes! In fact, the sooner you start using your Thermal Pockets, the faster your recovery time is from surgery.

All Thermal Pockets come with a fabric pocket, freezable gel pack, and compression band to secure your Thermal Pocket for hassle-free, hands-free soothing.

Thermal Pockets are recommended by length of incision and/or by body part. To work effectively, your Thermal Ice Packs must cover the entire incision or injury area. The sizing chart gives you the suggested lengths for selecting the right Thermal Pockets for your need.

Small: for incision/injury up to 6 inches. Designed for wrist, ankle & breast

Medium: for incision/injury up to 8 inches. Designed for breast.

Large: for incision/injury up to 10 inches. Designed for knee.

Extra Large: for incision/injury up to 12 inches. Designed for abdomen & hip.

Sizing the compression band is based on the body part or size of the incision site you want to cover.

Small bands are for the wrist.

Medium bands are for the ankle.

Large bands are made for both the knee and breast.

Extra large bands are made for both the abdomen and hip.

A sizing chart is included on the product page which shows the body part and the length so you can easily pick the size that fits your injured body part.

The best way to use your Thermal Pockets is to cycle between cold therapy sessions and rest (always according to your doctor-recommended protocol).

Generally, your Thermal Pockets should be left on for no more than 20-30 minutes at a time with a 1-hour break in between. This cycle should continue until your pain is relieved and inflammation is reduced. You can continue this cycle with your Thermal Pockets for days or even weeks.

You will need to place the gel pack in the freezer during your 1-hour rest period so that it's ready for the next icing session.

Thermal Pockets gel packs are completely safe and non-toxic. The major ingredient is water and they contain a non-toxic emulsifying agent added to make the water thicken.

The gel pack is completely flexible and is not stiff or harshly frozen. This makes it wear very comfortably as it surrounds your incision or injury. The best part is, your gel pack will stay flexible even after months-long storage in a freezer!

All Thermal Pockets are made with non-toxic elements, including the fabrics and compression bands.

Thermal Ice Packs are designed with medical-grade fabrics.

Thermal Pockets are easily washable. Put the pocket (without the gel pack) in the washing machine and use your regular detergent and fabric softener. Then toss in the dryer on normal temperature.

***Caution: Do not use bleach when washing Thermal Pocket components.

Thermal Pockets compression bands are safely washable. Simply secure the velcro to the body of the compression band and put in the washing machine with your normal detergent and fabric softener. Then toss in the dryer on normal temperature.

***Caution: Do not use bleach when washing Thermal Pocket components.

Thermal Pockets' gel packs are best kept in the freezer so that they will be ready when needed for unexpected injuries or pain relief.

Thermal Pockets are a cold therapy system that is thoughtfully designed for post-surgery incision sites as well as injuries. The best part is, Thermal Pocket fabrics are designed to keep out moisture and are anti-microbial and anti-bacterial. Other cold therapy systems are messy, not washable, and are either are too cold, or not cold enough to make much of a difference. With Thermal Pockets, cooling starts to immediately help reduce inflammation and pain while being moisture-free and anti-bacterial.
